The One Anothers

In the New Testament, there are 40 verses containing the words one another. These passages are intended to create the healthiest possible relationships all from God’s point of view.

Although these verses don’t apply exclusively to marriage, they do apply to it.

If you are married, we recommend that each week your meditate upon and apply one of the one another passages listed below. This will radically improve any marriage. Some couples have found it helpful to substitute their spouse’s name in place of one another to make it more personal.

  1. Be at peace with one another. (Mark 9:50)

  1. A new commandment I [Jesus Christ] give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:34-35)

  1. This is my commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. (John 15:12)

  1. This I command you: that you love one another. (John 15:17)

  1. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. (Romans 12:10)

  1. Live in harmony with one another. (Romans 12:16)

  1. Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. (Romans 13:8)

  1. Let us stop passing judgment on one another. (Romans 14:13)

  1. So then let us pursue the things which make for peace the building up of one another. (Romans 14:19)

  1. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you. (Romans 15:7)

  1. All the brothers here send you their greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss. (1 Corinthians 16:20)

  1. Serve one another in love. (Galatians 5:13)

  1. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2)

  1. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. (Ephesians 4:2)

  1. Laying aside falsehood, speak truth, each one of you, with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. (Ephesians 4:25)

  1. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32)

  1. Speak to one another with Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs… (Ephesians 5:19)

  1. Submit to one another…. (Ephesians 5:21)

  1. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit; but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. (Philippians 2:3-4, NASB)

  1. Do not lie to one another…. (Colossians 3:9, NASB)

  1. May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other(1 Thessalonians 3:12)

  1. For you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. (1 Thessalonians 4:9)

  1. Comfort one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:18)

  1. Encourage one another and build each other up… (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

  1. Live in peace with each other. (1 Thessalonians 5:13)

  1. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other(1 Thessalonians 5:15)

  1. But encourage one another(Hebrews 3:13)

  1. Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. (Hebrews 10:24)

  1. Encourage one another(Hebrews 10:25)

  1. Brothers, do not slander one another. (James 4:11)

  1. Don’t grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. (James 5:9)

  1. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other that you may be healed. (James 5:16)

  1. Love one another deeply from the heart (1 Peter 1:21)

  1. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in various forms. (1 Peter 4:8-10)

  1. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because; God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. (1 Peter 5:5)

  1. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)

  1. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. (1 John 3:23)

  1. Dear friends, let us love one another, for loves comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7)

  1. Dear friends since God so loved us we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. (1 John 4:11-12)

  1. I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. (2 John 1:5)
